I'm appalled that this establishment is still open. Let me start off by saying that I'm a 22 year old cosmetologist who has been doing hair for 6 years. I consider myself a business woman with a fast growing clientele and also did makeup on the side. I used to go to this place often if I needed to pick up something quick. Otherwise, I just go to my Cosmoprof (license only) store down the street. The last time I came here was in January 2016 before the new sign was put up,"NO PURSES ALLOWED" I was picking up a birthday present for my cousin, some nail polish when the owner came out of nowhere and started screaming at me like I was a shoplifter. I thought it was just a misunderstanding and began speaking calmly, trying to figure out what the problem was. "I DON'T WANT YOU IN MY STORE ANYMORE. GET OUT! I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN SHIT TO YOU!" By then I was shaking like a leaf. This had never happened to me in my life. Im the type of person that always, ALWAYS uses the stores shopping basket/cart/tote, anything because I was raised how to act in a shopping environment or anyplace for that matter since I'm half African-American. My mother who is Italian taught me that people will treat you a certain way because of what they see. I've been fortunate enough that something like this hasn't happened to me up until now. But being treated like this in a beauty supply store/salon shakes me to my core. I have worked too hard to be where I am today, being a cosmetologist and a respectable one is my life. So with that said I've decided to start a boycott to this establishment and am making arrangements to send numerous complaints (by cosmetologists & customers) to the State Board of Cosmetology. If anyone who has written a complaint that wishes to contact me may do so. I just pray no one else, especially a woman of color has to through what I went through.
