I am 100% sure that I left a very expensive pair of sunglasses in the glove box of a car I returned at 11PM. I realized immediately and started trying to contact Hertz about 7AM the next morning. Of course there is absolutely no way to speak directly to anyone at the rental center, you only can leave a message or talk to a national call center, which I did, and filed a claim online. I decided to drive back to the rental center, but the car was already rented & they claim no sunglasses were found. I asked someone to call me when the car returned, and of course no one did. About 2 weeks later I received an email that my sunglasses had been found. Still no way to actually speak to someone directly to confirm, so I drove all the way back to the rental center. The woman brought out sunglasses that didn't match the description I had written at all, and when I told her they weren't mine, she told me she had already cleared out the lost item report as completed and I would have to start all over & file a new report. I'm sick of companies hiding behind this "not responsible for lost items" BS because your employees now have free license to steal whatever they find. I accept that I left them in the car, but where is the understanding that returning from vacation is hectic & mistakes happen? And why did you make me drive 30 miles back to the rental center 3 times because I can't just speak to someone there on the phone like a normal human interaction???
