Bongos occupies an awkward, skinny and long space at the Alberston's strip mall on the NW corner of Ray and McClintock. in Chandler. I stumbled into their open mike comedy night last night (tues., September 11, 2007) and it was a great experience.
The comedy was very entertaining (and free). They had about 12 comedians perfom from about 8:15pm until about 10pm. Some were absolutely terrible and some had serious potential... all of them were funny in one way or another. The event was MC'd by a funny chick name Jill... apparently Jimmy Kimmel's sister. I believe this was the second week of the event and they plan on having it every week.
The menu was huge... The cover bragged about its 290+ menu items. They also have a large breakfast menu that is served until 2pm on Saturdays. The portions here are HUGE... one breakfast section is devoted entirely to SEVEN egg omelettes...
The crowd was pretty solid as well. I was impressed by the number and quality of ladies out on a Tuesday night for a open mike night. The owners were very nice and seemed to know everyone... I'll be heading back.
