| - I've read all the reviews on here, after a friend made a reservation at Station for 5 of us. I started with a Friends & Foes cocktail - Rum, Amaro, Vanilla, Date, Pineapple & Lime. It was pleasantly fruity, not overly alcoholic by any means, and I liked the subtle nuances of the date and vanilla, though the Amaro was hard to detect. We started with a few small plates: the Roasted Carrot, Chicken Liver Mousse and Crispy Wings. The Carrots had a nice spice from the harissa, though $9 for maybe 1 carrot sliced and a few greens seems a bit much. The Mousse was quite good, especially with the buttery sourdough that accompanied it. The Wings were nice and crispy, and done just right - meaty and freshly cooked - but they could have used more flavor. I had the Station Burger, the only under $20 Large Plate, just because I was feeling burger. It came on a nicely textured brioche bun with perfectly crisped fries and a delicious onion jam. The huge onion ring on top was actually redundant, and just made the towering burger harder to eat. It was cooked exactly as I ordered, but the beef didn't have any distinct flavor, and I've had better burgers for half the price. Two others in my party had the Tagliatelle, which they both seemed to like, and the Crispy Skin Chicken, which I think was given a thumbs up. Everyone but me shared the Popcorn Panna Cotta and Lavender Pound Cake for dessert, so I can't talk to that, but they looked fine and I think both were polished off.
We sat in the main large dining room up against a corrugated metal wall, and it was VERY loud. Of course the guy with the obnoxiously loud creep-show laugh at the next table didn't help, but it wasn't just him, but his shrieks did stand out in the OVERLY LOUD space. I realized that I took to reading the lips of my friends to make out what they were saying.
The menu is limited and expensive, and nothing about it would make me want to go back. The food was adequate - no real wow factor for me.
