I did feel like a VIP last night upon entering the new Cineplex in the Shops of Don Mills, Don Mills Road and Lawrence East. It was easy to pre-select my seat by pushing a little lighted button on the screen when buying a ticket, and I got a 10% discount because I presented my Scene card. This is the only theatre that does that. During the week, tickets cost $15 and on the weekend go up to $25, less the discount.
My movie, Trip to Italy, was upstairs. I forgot to ask if there was an elevator. I should have because there is--I learned after a steep climb to the second floor. What a view from up there! One wall is completely window and overlooks the lighted up shops. The cocktail lounge is very elegant with low plush sofas and tables where you can chat over a drink while waiting for your movie to start.
I didn't order any pre-movie food, but scanned the menu located by my seat. Maybe I'll try one of their ice cream floats next time. Others were taking full advantage ordering sandwiches and drinks brought to them by friendly staff before the movie started.
I recommend seeing Trip to Italy if you love looking at beautiful scenes and wonderful food being consumed by two very funny guys who love to talk. Hoping Cineplex VIP will bring to Don Mills the kind of films being shown downtown at the Varsity. I'll be back!
