  • I decided to give beauty bar a try mainly due to their huge Instagram presence. I never have any procedures except for my regular facials at pure&simple so I went for their hydrafacial. For those who are not familiar with the procedure, this involves 2 steps of skin prep (wash, scrub, hot towel) followed by a suction machine that spits out a serum and simultaneously extracts skin debris. The good: the suction machine is good. It clears pores and surface dead skin cells. The nurse I had was wonderful; she explained what she was doing and walked me through the entire process. She mentioned she was a hospital nurse before and was overall great. The not so good: the suction machine is not enough to extract deeper black heads or pimples that are below the skin. There should definitely be some manual extraction!!! Also, the hot towel steaming is not enough to sufficiently open the pores. Facials at other salons include steaming from a serious steamer not a warm towel. The bad: the infusion serum (vitamins) that supposedly gives you a glow is an add on, $50 extra. The red light therapy another $25 extra. Comparing this to my regular facial at pure & simple which includes light therapy, masks and serums it felt to be a rip off. My bottom line: I felt that this facial was almost like the first part of a facial. It needs manual extractions and light therapy and some nice oils or serums to send you home glowing. My skin was clean, my pores were clear mostly but not so much around the nose area and I was definitely not glowing. The cost was $175+$50 serum + $25 light therapy.
