| - I've been a huge fan of Criss Angel since he started getting big and having tv shows. I have always wanted to see him perform in person, but never got the chance until now. I've always thought of him as the new face to magic, with the innovative new tricks and illusions he would do.
Unfortunately all of that wonderment and amazement is gone after seeing his show in person. I would like to be able to say he was just having an off night, but I don't think that was the case.
Cons:
1) almost all of his tricks were the same OLD tricks that magicians have been doing for ages, just with his little tweaks on style. i.e. Making people disappear/reappear in a box, quick change into someone else, levitation of a girl covered in a sheet, disappearing and reappearing in the audience. I almost wanted to walk out when he started making doves appear.... who the hell uses doves anymore!?!? Lance burton was amazing at that, Criss needs to actually improve on the illusion before trying to pay homage to lance.
2) the women he uses are incredibly beautiful and it's a Vegas show, so you should expect to see nearly naked girls in the performance. It was sad to see him using girls to distract like magicians 20 years ago.
3) during his "flying" I could see the wires :(
The wire for making the dove fly around the room was visible in the spotlight during the trick.
4) as I read in another post, the theatre staff are very strict about filming and phone use. This is totally understandable, however, the older lady seated in front of me was escorted out of the theatre after checking her text. She didn't take pictures or anything. She just checked her text real quick and ushers came to remove her.
There are many other things that really disappointed me, but I won't drone on.
Pros:
1) the stage design and effects were fantastic!
2) the comedy team that opens the show and assists throughout were really great. Seeing psychic Tanya was a great surprise . I've been a fan of hers since seeing her with the amazing Jonathan.
After seeing this show, I honestly don't know why he won so many awards. Sorry to say, but I'm not interested in ever go to see him again.
Save your money, go see someone else.
