  • This is a disappointment. I have always been a lover of all things GR and have made an effort to frequent all his best establishments. Came here to just get a quick bite between other meals. Upon showing up, plenty of empty seats available but the Hostess just pointed us to the bar. No worries, I didn't really need a table but at least being led in would have been nice. Went into the "bar area" that I was pointed to and sat down at table there. Had several servers walk by with no acknowledgement. eventually, as I was about to get actually pissed off, a server came by and told me the table was "reserved" and we would have to sit at the bar. Again, no effort to actually assist or direct or give any sort of service, just really poor form. By the way, while I was sitting at the "reserved" table waiting for service, I had a chance to notice how poorly kept things were. There were dirty tables everywhere. It just seemed as there was a lot of staff walking around and no one actually caring for things. With the amount of staff they had here this place should have been spotless. So not only was the service completely lacking but it was a mess to look at. We moved ourselves over to the actual bar and were greeted by a friendly enough bartender, (he is one of two things keeping this rating from being a 1). He took our order and poured up some drinks. The weird thing is that I had a Stella Artois, and it had absolutely no head at all, I assume that either the line was dirty or there was some film in the glass that prevented a head. They rinse their glasses so it almost has to be a dirty line. We only ordered a couple of items, Scotch egg and deviled eggs. Both were really good for sure, (there is the other thing that kept this a 2 star instead of 1). The other thing about this place - it just looks confused as hell. If I were to go all Asian on you I would say there is absolutely no Feng Shui. It just seems like there was an argument between the chef, the hotel, the backers, and the bank and they ALL got their way. It just does not flow and for shits sake GET RID OF ALL THE RIDICULOUS KEGS ON THE WALL!! They are not trendy, it is not visually pleasing. It is just super heavy and distracting. Anyway.....To Gordon, or the GM - PLEASE get on your front of house and have them learn a bit about service and upkeep for this place. There is just no way that it should have been this rough when it was not even remotely busy.
