| - I went to get an estimate on recovering 2 outdoor chaise lounge covers, taking one in with me so they could see. I told them I wanted to redo them in canvas, which is rugged and (I thought) inexpensive, although the fabric thickness might make sewing more difficult so I didn't know what to expect. They said they don't use canvas & showed me books of Sunbrella fabrics that look similar to canvas. The man who I think owns the place looked my cushion over, and insisted I needed to have the interior stuffing redone - although it was fine as far as I was concerned & said so. As if to make his point he ripped open a tear that had started in the fabric and grabbed a handful of stuffing to convince me. I was not convinced, I was mad, but stayed just to get the estimate. While waiting for someone in the back to do the measuring for the estimate I went to the book they said was the less expensive Sunbrella fabrics & picked 2. They looked to be the same weave and the samples were close together in the book, maybe 3 swatches away from each other, so I assumed they'd be the same price. I was then told one color was twice the price of the other, with no explanation why. Then I was given an estimate that specifically says 2 cushions for $404. At first I didn't see that the "quantity" column said "2" so I asked if this was for one cushion or both. There was a delay while the 3 people there decided the cost listed was for only 1 cushion, and I was told I could double the estimate cost for 2. I said no thank you & left. I did not trust their estimate or how costs were arrived at, and I still resented that I was not given an option to keep the cushion stuffing I had or that the dude would just rip my cushion open.
