  • We made our way over to Italian Grotto after the Art Walk and were greeted by a very Italian man that reminded me of a cross of Danny DeVito and Tony Danza. Theme of the night seemed to be Guy's Night as there were several, SEVERAL tables full of middle-aged men who insisted on hooting and hollering as me and my friends walked by.... It was HOT in this place. I'm not talking sexy, though I did have to take off my jacket to keep from overheating. The ambiance was lacking and I realized quickly that this place was not my style. Service was fast, but felt a little rushed. The server wasn't very engaging but again was on the ball and quick. He, at times, took plates prematurely before we were finished and without asking. The bread came out warm and well, fast. As did our salads and our entrees. The salad was great considering it was just a simple side salad. I think the Italian House dressing is what really impressed. I did ask for dressing on the side but instead received it doused to the point that I had a large puddle of dressing in the bottom of the bowl after I ate all the leafs. I ordered the Cannelloni Florentine for my entree which was pretty good but a little dry. My friends all enjoyed their meals for the most part but none of us were wowed. Prices really range at this place. Page 1 everything is under $13, turn to the next page, everything is $20+. I could never justify paying $20+ again for mediocre Italian food regardless of it's toppings. I can't imagine I'll be back.
