Chaya is, by a significant margin, the best and most authentic Japanese food in squirrel hill. The prices are a tad expensive, and the quality of the seafood does not reach the standards of coastal cities, but there is nowhere else in a radius of 5 km where you can experience sushi of this quality. The deluxe chirashi for example is loaded full of fresh fish that was mostly satisfactory although the ikura was a bit oddly colored and suspicious in texture. I'm not sure if it ought to command the price of $35 but it satisfied a deep craving for quality seafood that I had been harboring for days.
