  • I am only giving the Emergency Room three stars. I say "only," but would like to preface this by also saying that the staff is efficient and friendly and kind, and I felt cared for. Now for the reason"only three stars." I have come here several times and always got great service. But this time certain things that I would say were just plain bad practices for a major hospital stood out. First: I came in after having taken a very bad fall; my whole body was sore and bruised. I told the medical staff where I was hurting and they took me in for a catscan of my brain (it's still there, lol) and x-rays of my rib cage and ankles, which felt like they might have been fractured. Of course, the basics: they took my blood pressure, and oxygen level, and I was asked about exactly what had happened: a full-body slam over a large metal table in a store. They took note of my two bloody shin gashes and my sunglasses, which had been smashed to bits from falling forward onto the hard floor. All well and good. BUT NO ONE THOUGHT TO EXAMINE MY BODY FOR OTHER CONTUSIONS AND POSSIBLE FRACTURES. When you are in pain, confusion, disoriented from an accident, even though you think you know where you've been hurt - because often stuff doesn't show up right away and you are in shock - shouldn't a doctor kind of feel your limbs, your back, look at your skin, make you cough to be sure your lungs weren't injured, etc.? No one ever actually touched my body in this Emergency Room. Second: while waiting for the results of my imaging procedures, I was told that I was to receive a tetanus shot. Oops. Their mistake. When I said I thought there was a mistake about that it turned out the shot was for the guy in bed across from me. Then someone approached me with anti-biotics. "Why?" I asked. No answer. Confusion. Oops. They were for another woman who "looks like you." Hel-low? It's a good thing I speak English and that I was not so out of it that I just allowed these things to be done to me. There were other glitches, but these mentioned were glaring, in my opinion. I will go back to this E.R. again because it is clean and the people are "nice" - two things that matter to me. However, I will be on guard to make certain I get more focused, responsible attention from start to finish.
