| - We first started going to the Shanghai Club in Scottsdale. What memories, when they moved in 2008/2009 (opened a new restaurant in Anthem), we were going to be so sorry to not be able to get to the food so easily. The attitudes of the staff and owners? Priceless, sweet and like family. A winner for his hot and sour soup (the late Harry), I also love the sizzling rice soup, or war wanton. We'd go and try something new each time, probably until we completely exhausted the menu. There really isn't too much I wouldn't order again, and it would have to be because certain things aren't my taste.
We started traveling to Anthem, (I live in North Scottsdale) not easy, but worth it. I rarely rate someone unless they are 1 or 5, just don't have the time. But I have eaten their honey walnut shrimp, they will make the egg drop soup without peas and carrots (I prefer it that way). I've had their crab puffs--very good, and really love their chicken puffs. Good BBQ ribs (not much on Chinese ribs, but have still ordered them again because they were good). My husband and best friend swear by their pan fried and regular dumplings, all really good. I'm not really a spring roll fan, but my friends also say they really love them.
Their steak dish (filet mignon with prawn) extraordinary for a Chinese restaurant, they also seemed out of place. But tender and so delicious and good sized prawns. They have a huge menu so I could go on for a long time, but their orange scallops and their singapore noodle with spicy curry, I loved. I'd ask for their chile paste and use a little with both of those dishes. Egg Foo Young... never had it before, but another one I loved.
I don't know how you can go wrong here, unless some are advertising other competing restaurants (I noticed on another review). I don't think you'll be disappointed, in fact I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.
