I stayed here this weekend for the National Common Core Conference with a group of teachers. Our school paid for all of our rooms ahead of time and we had arrived with confirmation numbers just incase. Checking in was an awful experience and what really ruined my stay. I was being helped by a shorter brunette woman with bangs. She was older and not very friendly at all. She didn't have a name tag (nobody did) so I don't know her name. She had a bad attitude from the minute we stepped up to be helped. It was very busy in the lobby so I can imagine she was stressed but it is no excuse for the way she greeted her guests. She told me I needed to hand her an ID and a credit card for the room (the one that had already been paid for by my school) I gave both to her because usually a credit card must be kept on file for incidental purposes.
This woman did not repeat a total back to me or let me know she was running my card at any point. AFTER she had charged my card for 435.00 she handed it back and asked me to sign the reciept. Once I realized what was going on I had tried to sort it out. The room was paid for already so I wanted a refund. She was beyond irritated with me when it was not my fault. She told me she would not call my bank or even attempt to because they were "closed" luckily a blonde woman (Michelle) stepped in and phoned the bank and got this issue taken care of for me. She was even kind enough to check in with me after the situation to make sure I was refunded my money. This was after the rude woman had told me there was NOTHING they could do with a "too bad so sad" attitude. Upon check out I noticed they slapped up a sign that explained that its your responsibility to know how much you are paying at a hotel. Way to make me feel even more unwelcome due to that misunderstanding.
There was another woman during check in that I felt was unprofessional. She was a younger asian girl who I overheard with another customer. The customer was commenting on going to another hotel and taking their business elsewhere, the girl commented "well that's fine that won't really hurt us any" WOW!
The issues don't really end there. Upon entering the room we did a bed bug check and there weren't any bed bugs, but there were longer thin bugs in my friends bed. We got rid of them ourselves and she slept with me. This is absolutely disgusting. We were in room 544 and had several problems with our keys and on our last day we were instructed to just keep our door open. We were told our keys were being reprogrammed and nobody ever came back to give them to us. With only a couple hours left of our stay I didn't want to even bother with begging for better customer service.
The hotel itself was nice. The pool was beautiful and so was the lobby and conference room. The beds were definitely the best part. Our shower did give us some trouble, it wouldn't drain all the way and the ice machine was broken the whole time we stayed. The hotel looks pretty on the outside but it is not ran well from within. I was very disappointed and I feel the customer service issue needs to be addressed IMMEDIATELY. I will not be staying here, or at another Hampton Inn location again.
