| - Jelly brought its truck to the Calgary Folk Festival and as a lover of fried dough, I couldn't resist, despite the fact that I don't really like traditional jelly donuts.
But the Jelly in the name is somewhat of a misnomer. Their raised donuts are formed in a jelly style, but don't necessarily contain Jelly.
One day, we shared a raised "Nenshi's Salted Caramel" and it completely blew away expectations. With each bite, there were probably 5 different textures in my mouth and a great sweet/salty flavour combination.
Because our Salted Caramel was so fantastic, we returned the next day, only to find a smaller selection. As Sarah is a vegetarian, the Maple bacon was out of the question, and as I don't like fruity donuts, our only option remaining was the Red Velvet Cake Doughnut.
And boy did it deliver - it's essentially a fried red velvet cake. With red velvet cake frosting.
As I would both go broke and probably weigh about 400 pounds if this place were located in Edmonton, I'm glad that it's not located here :)
