| - To put it bluntly... Overrated. We decided to finally go here yesterday and get a nice sampling of what they have to offer.
First of all, I knew it was communal searing, but the fact that it was so tight, and I had a screaming child next to me made it worse. There were a few other seats available yet for some reason, he put us there. The decor/design of this place makes this even more difficult as you cannot hear the person that is across from you.
The food was meh... I will admit, the concept is a good one, but I did not like the bbq sauce at all (I would have been happier with Sweet Baby Rays) and the meats were not anything to write home about. My husband had gotten the 3 meat combo... the only thing that was worth having was the brisket. I had gotten the chicken... again, nothing to write home about. Mac and Cheese was good... Potato salad was not (again, just my opinions). The fact that we spent $45 on this (that includes a Mexican Coke which was the best part of my meal) made it not worth it even more so.
I understand that people love this place because of the Kevin Sousa affiliation, however, I am basing my review solely on my experience. Fact is I have had better and I do not need to be at a hip or trendy place to justify my enjoyment of things. Clem's out in Blairsville puts this place to shame for people who like quality BBQ, good sauce, and a hearty meal at a good price. It may be a divey looking barn like wood building with a giant pig in a leather jacket on top of it, but I know that I left there satisfied :)
Next on my list is Pittsburgh BBQ and Yinzburgh BBQ.... hope my experiences there are better!
