Not a big fan of museums in general, but gotta say, this place is the exception to the rule! The wife and I easily spent 3 hours (in an excitingly picked-up pace) trying to make sure we see everything there is to see. This place is huge and well thought-out. There are 3 main halls which house fire apparatus from the 17th-21st centuries. Several exhibits had me gleaming like a kid in a candy store. The two stand-out exhibits IMHO was seeing a mock Dispatcher's (alarm) console which broadcasts live fire department dispatch audio from all over the Phoenix area. The other exhibit I loved was perusing thru wall-after-wall of display cases, housing fire department patches from throughout the USA, while trying to find my hometowns' patch. Tip: There is a cheat sheet binder available that you can search if you are in a hurry to find a particular patch. On a more serious note, there were two tastefully done exhibits you must experience. The first, is a memorial honoring the firefighters lost during 9/11, including an FDNY firetruck that assisted at ground zero. The second, is a memorial to the 19 Granite Mountain Hot Shots who lost their lives during the Yarnell Hill fire back in 2013. Tip: Admission is $7 for adults, but Groupon usually runs a special $16 for 4 admissions. This museum is time well spent!
