| - I promised you guys an update so here it is. As soon as the office opened 9am on 1/19/17, my boyfriend and I went to talk to the property manager. She sounded sympathetic enough as we explained to her how we no longer feel safe here. And as far as maintenance is concerned, they didn't show up until 8am, 11 hours after the incident took place. The guy that was on call never showed up. So, we told the manager that we want to break our lease. She had to get in contact with her regional manager, Jamie Schofield, for approval. Of course, Ms. Schofield said that we cannot break it because break ins happen all the time and they are not responsible. True, but you are responsible for fixing a broken door, especially when you are supposed to have on call maintenance people. That is a security threat. I had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Schofield on the phone today 1/20/17 because I did leave a very nasty voicemail about her initial response to the situation that she told the property manager, Danielle, to tell us. She still continued to say that we could not break the lease and she was very sorry for what happened to me. I told her that I was getting my ducks in the row by taking legal action which I am. Then, I hung up on her. I also think it is my responsibility to make others aware of what is going and to be careful of where they move to. Yes, crime can happen anywhere, but all of these landlords need to understand that it is their responsibility to make sure that their tenants feel safe by fixing anything broken-especially a door for God's sake. But, they don't care what happens as long as they get their money. So, yeah positive news yet. Just stay away. Spread the word and stay away!
