| - We ate at Kabul for lunch last Saturday. This was the first time we'd been there since it moved across the street and upstairs. We had a great experience.
The atmosphere was clean, simple, light, comfortable. We were greeted as we entered the restaurant by our waiter/the bartender who told us to take a seat. We picked a table by a window overlooking State Street. Our waiter brought us menus, water, and bread with a fantastic cilantro chutney. He told us if we wanted more to just let him know. The bread was fresh, chewy, perfect texture and the chutney was amazing. Slightly spicy, tons of flavor, very fresh.
For lunch we ordered the koftachalow and the lamb curry. The koftachalow is meatballs with a sauce of onions, tomatoes, yellow split-peas & fresh herbs. Completely delicious! It was served with white rice, but unlike the rice served in most Chinese or Indian restaurants this rice did not stick and almost tasted like each grain was coated in butter. Beautiful and yummy! The lamb was served with mushrooms, potatoes & spinach in a light tomato curry sauce. It was also outstanding.
We thought the service was excellent, the food incredible and the value very reasonable. We'll definitely be back.
