  • Prefatory note: I will mention the race and gender of one employee I dealt with during my stay, and I am ONLY doing so as a wish that, if management reads it, they might perhaps be aware of which employee did what..... On hotel and travel review sites, this place looks great (and it is ACTUALLY TERRIBLE), so I should really find the photographer they used and give THEM a five-star rating. This place was terrible, and the fact that we had clean beds and towels is the only good thing I can say. We stayed two nights, and on the first morning, after coming and going successfully from my room to breakfast and out to get gas, my and my travelmate's room card stopped working. We checked my third travelmate's card and it too had stopped working, and then I noticed that it was right after checkout time. I took them to the desk (which is a LONG walk) and told them they clearly created our keys for just one day instead of two, and the young African-American man at the desk immediately said "No, you're incorrect! That's not what happened" with palpable frustration in his voice! What????? He then said "Maybe you stored it next to your cell phone or a credit card and disabled it." Um, I have THREE CARDS here that don't work, and all of them DID work 10 minutes ago. So much for customer service - this kid was just trying to save his ass! Wow. "Award-winning breakfast buffet" was a TOTAL JOKE. The strawberries and melon tasted like it had been stored uncovered, overnight in a refrigerator with rotten food in it. The scrambled eggs had cheese in them with no mention of it (and, again, tasted off as if stored overnight!!! No hard-boiled eggs (which I guess makes sense if you want to stretch all your eggs by mixing American cheese with them). Only white bread for toast! LOL. No cream for coffee, only non-dairy creamer! The bar area is very tiny, cheap and run-down, with sit-down gambling machines adding to the ambience. The waitress sold me a beer for $4, then had the balls to actually come over to me and say "I'm sorry, but actually that beer is $5 - -I just started here tonight." Then she stood there, waiting for me to give her a dollar. What??? So the bar or waitress won't even comp me the dollar for THEIR MISTAKE??? Holy cow. I actually forked over the dollar to her because, in the moment, I felt sorry for her, but WTF?? What I WANTED to do was tell her NO, and please give ME the dollar back that I tipped you with! On my second morning, I went down to the gym and it was LOCKED. It was already about two hours after the sign's posted opening time. I thought about the long walk to the front desk and my disheveled state and instead tried to find a housekeeper to see if they could open it for me. Finally I found one and she told me I could access it through a back door in the pool area. The pool area is totally wet, so this is a hazard, but OK - par for the course at this point. When we checked out, one of my friends paid for the room, and when he asked for a detailed receipt he was told he couldn't be given one because the room was originally booked under another (my) credit card. When my friend got in the car and told me that, I said "That is SUCH B.S.!!!" I went into the lobby and, don't you know, it was Mr. "YOU disabled your room cards" again! I said we NEED a detailed receipt for our stay and regardless of who paid, you should be able to print that. Finally, he said "Actually (HAHAA!!) you are correct. My apologies" as he handed over the receipt. WTF? Someone who knows nothing and has never worked in customer service must have inherited this business, and I really hope they read these reviews and try to learn something.
