rev:text	It seems like "cupcake shops" are a dime a dozen in this area, and new ones are continually popping up. I've been to a couple of them, and yet none have given me an above average experience. Maddy's Fatty's continues this trend by offering uninspired cupcakes that taste like something I could have made at home myself. Maddy's Faddy's is located in the strip mall area next to the Good Will store in Cornelius. I decided to make a visit to pick up some Valentine's Day treats for the missus and me, and when you first walk in you are welcomed by the cupcake display case. I began to peruse the wares and was disappointed to find some relatively "plain" cupcakes. Flavors ranged from vanilla and chocolate to Oreo and black forest. I opted for the white chocolate mocha and the chocolate lava. Since it was a Thursday each cupcake was $2, which is right where the price should be for these kind of desserts. There was also a selection of day-old cupcakes that are $1.95 each day. I did notice some other treats such as linzar tarts, cannolis and napoleons, though I don't know how much they were. We split each cupcake later that night. I will say that the size is right, but unfortunately the quality of the cupcakes is nothing more than average. The white chocolate mocha was pretty horrible. It was a dry cake with no filling in the middle, and the white chocolate cake flavor was very mild and almost undetectable. It was covered in a mound of butter cream icing that was flavored like mocha, and while the mocha flavor was decent the richness of the frosting was a bit overwhelming. The chocolate lave cupcake was slightly better, as the chocolate cake was not as dry and there was a blob of chocolate pudding in the middle to lend some moistness. The vanilla icing was just as rich as the mocha was, and it was simply too much. The two cupcakes we had were relatively bland and weren't anything that special. The dryness of the cake and the overuse of butter cream is definitely not a good thing. Maybe I would go back one day to try some of the other desserts, but I definitely won't be getting cupcakes from here again.
