| - HEED THE WARNING! DO NOT RENT HERE!
Desert Club used to be beautiful. A long, long time ago. It resembles the slums now. Bedspreads, laundry, pool towels, wet bathing suits, shower curtains, ugly satellite dishes are what you see on patios once you take a right upon entry. No parking because the residents with garages use them for free storage. They have two and three cars per apartment and they take all the spots. There is never any parking unless you want to walk from one end of the complex to the other. In the hot weather, carrying groceries, um, not fun. It is while walking from my car to my apt - that LONG walk - that I notice all the trash, dog poop, crappy, slummy patios, blinds all crooked, cigarette smoke, filled ashtrays, and Christmas Lights all year round.
They were forced to spruce up the gym and "club"? house due to all the new complexes being built. And they charge A LOT to live here. It doesn't end there. Your rent is raised every year. EVERY YEAR! It does not matter if you are a good tenant with great credit, if you pay on time, and if you take care of your apartment, this is a business. They don't care if you move. They want the turnover. The people in the office make money if you do.
They do NOT have night patrol even though they advertise that they do. The loud partiers are in the pool past the closing hour with their booze, glass, noise. All the things they aren't supposed to do. But no one there to stop it. They don't care. It's a free for all. The rules are not enforced.
Also, there are tenants who sign the lease, and then all of a sudden, there are several people living in the apartment. Not only that, they bring animals in without admitting they have them so they don't have to pay pet rent like the rest of us. No one checks. Free for all.
Rumor has it that the manager will be taking on another property (a higher end one), so Desert Club will charge $1200 for their slums, but that will be cheap next to the brand new ones being built. Remember now: you are still paying a high price, and what do you get for it? Slums.
So KIDS......gather up five or six friends to go in with you, but only tell them that it's you and one other roommate, and you will be living for free. They don't check. And have your pot parties. Some of the folks who work in the office will join you. And if you're a kid who likes to drive fast, this is the place for you! They don't enforce the speed limits. The manager NEVER walks the property. She leaves early or doesn't come in. If you complain about something to her, she looks like a deer in headlights. WHAT???????? She closes her eyes to a lot of things. The other people in the office are friendly enough, but I've seen them roll their eyes, heard them make comments. It's just a joke!
People who don't live there use the gym. When I work out, there are people who live there that consistently bring outside clients in to use the gym. So they are wearing and tearing on the equipment, making their living, and they have no overhead. I'd have the place to myself for a half hour if the clients aren't be trained. Even one of the trainers doesn't live at Desert Club anymore -the female one. Well, probably on paper she does. Some racket! People who don't live there use the business center.
The one star is only because the maintenance guys - minus one of them - are great. I shall not name the shifty one.
I can't wait to get the heck out of here. Soon!! :-) For the money I pay here, I have found a 2 bedroom w/attached garage, gated, clean, everyone has the same window dressings, there are rules to be followed, and penalites enforced if you don't. CAN'T WAIT!
And no, I am not a disgruntled tenant, I am being completely honest here! That's what reviews are for....to help the next guy!
