| - I almost never get my nails done because I personally don't care for the look of nail polish and the hygiene aspect of nail salons kind of weirds me out... but my 7yo daughter was begging me to go on a 'girly date' and get mani/pedis together. So, knowing that nail places kind of make me uncomfortable, I spent upwards of an hour reading yelp reviews of all the salons in my area and finally decided on this one because it seemed to have the least amount of bad reviews.
The good about the salon was the receptionist was incredibly friendly and helped my daughter feel at ease when we walked in and she wanted to change her mind because she didn't like the smell and was scared that the workers were wearing masks. The receptionist was very kind to her and made her feel comfortable. They got us right in without an appointment and it was pretty busy. The nail techs who were doing our nails were pretty friendly and my daughters nails turned out very cute with the flowers and polka dots etc, and she was really happy with the experience.
The not good was during my manicure when she was trimming the cuticles, she took a deep piece of skin off the corner of my finger. It started bleeding pretty significantly, it was dripping blood and filling my entire nail with blood. She tried holding pressure on it for awhile but it continued to bleed so she put super glue on it and glued the skin shut without washing it first. It did stop the bleeding but all I could think about was what kind of an infection am I going to end up with. She did apologize many times, and I didn't want to make her feel bad so I reassured her that I was ok, but I thought for sure they would not charge me for the manicure portion, especially since I opted out of any kind of polish or anything after all of the bleeding, but they did still charge me and since I am completely non-confrontational and not the kind of person who would dispute it, I paid $120 for my 7yo to get her fingers and toes painted (which were very cute), and myself to get a pedicure and a manicure with no nail polish, and I left with a crusty, bloody finger that actually is quite painful now that I'm home.
It's been over 7 years since I've had my last manicure, and it'll probably be at least 7 more until my next.
