| - Steve's is my primary stop for all things alcohol. I've been visiting one location or another for over a decade, depending on where I lived at the time, mainly because they've always got me covered regardless of what I'm looking for.
I'm that anomalous Wisconsinite who doesn't really like most beers or wine. Steve's carries my favorite Belgian fruit beers (Lindemans) and a nice selection of hard ciders, including Island Orchard (Door County). Even better, they have a small selection of meads, like local Bos Meadery (Madison) and B. Nektar (Michigan). Yum! I look forward to trying some of the Sake they carry one of these days. So if you're looking for something a little different, Steve's has your back.
I may not like most beer, but I know good beer via others and they carry a great selection of craft brews. I'm always finding new stuff to bring home for my partner's tasting pleasure. He was over-the-moon for their choices of 'proper' Irish whiskey. The few wines that I do love are always here, and they occasionally have a vendor in doing tastings.
If you're getting ready for a party Steve's also keeps a cooler of meats and cheeses. This is where I first came across Carr Valley's Menage, and they always have Nuske's Landjaeger in stock. An unexpected bonus: I always stop here for our preferred (100% hardwood) charcoal.
To top all of this off, the staff are extremely helpful. More than once they've called another location to see if something they're out of is in stock there. If it is, the other location will set it aside so I can run across town to get it. When Bos released a new mead, they happily ordered two bottles for me and promptly let me know when my order was ready for pickup. I've also had no problem calling ahead to see if something is in stock; they've always been willing to hold an item. When you like the less common stuff, that's a great big win.
All around fantastic service and selection. Sure, I buy liquor at other places if convenient or unique, but I definitely prefer coming here.
