| - I saw Dr. Bregman recently for pain I've been experiencing between a couple of my toes.
I waited around 20 minutes in the waiting room by myself, so no one in front of me. Then waited another 5 or so in the exam room for the doctor's assistant to come in with some questions. After a couple x-rays and a few more minutes with his medical assistant, the doctor. came in. I had exactly 6 minutes with the doctor. He never went over my X-rays with me, never offered thoughts as to what the problem is or how we would work to find a solution nor did he even diagnose the problem. He only rattled off a few various conditions of the foot and told me he'd fit me for orthotic inserts.
He then had his medical assistant tape up my foot which I had to take off first thing the next morning due to my skin being folded under the tape and it causing quite a bit of pain. I was billed $80 for this tape job. Yes, $80 to put some medical tape around the bottom of my foot that did absolutely nothing! The ironic thing is that the condition I have doesn't always hurt and as Murphy's law would have it, it wasn't hurting on the day of my doctors appointment. I explained this to them, but they still taped my foot and still asked me if it was feeling better. The assistant called me the next morning to see again if it was feeling better. I told him I had to take off the tape because it was causing a lot of pain. He said, yeah that happens.
About a week after my visit, a TENS machine shows up at my doorstep from some company in Florida. After some frustrating phone calls, I find out Dr. Bregman's office ordered it and had it sent to me. This is the same unit you can order off Amazon or pick up at any Asian pharmacy. It's electro-shock therapy that has no proven medical benefits and if you have never tried taping electrodes on the thin, bony skin of the top of your foot, I highly don't recommend it! To add insult to injury, the place in Florida can offer no advice on use of the machine. A call to Dr Bregman's medical assistant just got me "well, your insurance paid for it...". They couldn't offer any advice on using the device either, only repeatedly mentioned that my insurance was paying for it. He said at best it was to offer temporary pain relief. Now I'm trying to get them to stop sending me the replacement pads for the darn thing but no one will answer the phone and Bregman's office says I have to handle it through the Florida company.
I'm now seeing another podiatrist that has taken the time to examine and diagnose my condition. Someone that meticulously went over my X-rays with me and offered real suggestions as to what my condition could be.
I'm pretty understanding. A simple "I'm so sorry your visit wasn't what you expected, I'd love to do better" or "I wish I could have done a better job for you but would you please remove the bad review of my service" may have gotten my honest and factual review removed, but resorting to threats right out of the starting gate doesn't go over well with me. I stand behind this review and will do whatever it takes to warn others from experiencing what I've dealt with.
UPDATE: I saw this guy back in February. Today is July 20th and I just received a bill from the sketchy company in Florida for $552.00. I called them and finally got through to someone. They said if I paid them anything I can afford, then they'd show a zero balance. I was honest when I told them I'd rather pay 10 times that to a lawyer to fight this than give them one red cent! They claim to have put my balance at $.00 but I'm sure this isn't over.
I'd avoid this guy like the plague! Five months after one simple office visit and I'm still trying to clean this mess up.
