| - Okay, maybe I'm a crazy thrill seeker or have just been spoiled with the vast amount of hikes readily available to us Las Vegans, but, I was super let down with this hike.
I love to hike. I enjoy the quiet, crisp air.. appreciate the simplicity of nature.. yada..yada..yada. More importantly, I enjoy that it keeps my Border Collie active. But, this hike was rather boring to me.
It's a steep all walk upwards hike. Great for the derriere! No climbing and very low in difficulty. I was a little hungover while hiking and it was about 110 degrees, so I had to stop in the shade on three different occasions to hydrate myself and the pups. Every time I'd stop, someone would pass and say over and over "IT'S SO WORTH IT!" Immediately, I'd get up and would get all psyched to see this so called waterfall.
I enjoyed the hike and my butt was feeling great! But, once we made it to the top, I was left super disappointed. The waterfall was a little spit of water drizzling down a couple of rocks. Super let down. Other than the faux waterfall, there were some rocks to sit on and enjoy the green view. That about wraps it up. Maybe there was another trail that I missed, but, I won't be back. There were also a bunch of people with mean dogs.. so it super sucked that I couldn't let my friendly and extremely active dog run around.
With all the hikes to choose from and discover, I won't be repeating this one. If you're looking for big waterfalls, a place to swim, hot springs or even cold springs.. basically, some gold at the end of the rainbow.. you won't find it here. However, you'll still get a work out and enjoy the greenery that Mt. Charleston has to offer.. so, three stars for that!
