  • I just wrapped up my car buying experience and I chose to buy from Autonation Honda in Chandler over this location even though Showcase is more convenient to where I live and work. Our salesman did a good job helping us figure out what model Honda we wanted. After choosing the Civic, I feel like this is where the positive experience ended. For starters, the sales rep brought out a piece of paper that showed they were selling us the car for $25k (which is $5k over what they advertised the exact same car for online). After some negotiation back and forth they magically got the car down to what they advertised it for online, all the while making you feel like you're getting it for a steal. I have been through the car buying process many many times and I feel like my time is worth something. I hate the needless back and forth salesman tactics that Showcase performed here. Secondly, out of principle, we never make a purchase over $500 without sitting on it for 24 hours, but they would not understand. They said that we needed to do the deal then and there and pressured us that it would not be available if we walked away. I don't know how many times the salesman asked us what he could do to seal the deal then. Needless to say we did walk away and I am glad we did. Lastly, when I got home I realized that the trim level of the Civic we were looking at had Honda Sensing as an option, something our sales rep failed to try to sell us on. We came into Showcase not initially looking at the Civic but ended up liking it, making it the model we were focusing on buying. The salesman knew we hadn't come initially for the Civic as we had test drove a different model prior, but didn't educate us on the different options Civics had in terms of trim. Having a 5 year old daughter who was with us at the dealership should have made adding a $1k SAFETY feature to our negotiations a no-brainer. After visiting Autonation Honda today I walked away with the car I wanted with the features I wanted for $1 (yes one dollar) more per month than a model without Honda Sensing that Showcase was trying to sell me on.
