| - We rented an apartment here while waiting for the construction of our new home to be completed. We were there less than 6 months and, because we had a short term lease, we paid a premium that put our monthly rent at over $1600 per month for a two bedroom. The quality of these units is very substandard in comparison to other Mark Taylor properties I have visited. The blinds in the unit are so flimsy, they fall apart if you look at them wrong. The carpet appeared old, but clean, when we moved in. After two weeks of living there, the old stains started coming back through. It was very unsightly but we put up with it because we were only going to be there a short time. During our time there, termites started making a track on one of the bedroom walls. It took close to a month for their exterminator to come out to look at it. By the time it was taken care of the track was about 3 feet long.
They never did clean the wall. The exterminator brushed the termites off but the shadow of the track was still there when we moved out. We were constantly having to screw the face plates back onto the drawers in the kitchen because they would become loose and fall off.
When we moved out, we paid a professional cleaner to come do a move out clean. A couple of weeks after moving out we received a summary of charges that were deducted from our deposit. We were charged to replace the carpet that was already in bad condition when we moved in. Additionally, we were charged to replace the blinds and the microwave door (which I'm almost positive was noted as cracked on our move in paperwork). They ultimately kept 80% of our deposit.
I understand that people can trash an apartment in a short time, but that is not us. We take pride in where we live, whether that is a house or an apartment. All I can say is that I am glad to be out of there and will never recommend a Mark Taylor property to anyone after this experience.
The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the girls in the office were very pleasant.
