I confess I love electronics and new tech. Best Buy used to have a role beyond being a showroom. Well now they are just perpetuating that showplace role they complain about as this dinosaur slides slowly into extinction.
The reasons we go to a store and not buy at Amazon or eBay is human contact and service. BestBuy got the contact thing and now everyone wants to be your friend. So much so that it's annoying. But the product knowledge is just not there. Worse still, the concept of customer service is missing too. The associates would rather browse Facebook than put themselves out to help (or learn about the products).
Clearly, juicy service contracts are the only reason why BestBuy lingers. And that is why they they have lost their way and will lose the ultimate fight for survival. Darwin was right and the fellow that would rather check his phone than check my "loyalty" account will soon be on the unemployment lines.
