A special family event sometimes calls for some special Italian cooking and fancy cocktails. LAVO delivered a friendly, professional and fun vibe along with some pretty impressive food to back up the high end decor and price tag.
The Wagyu meatball was a phenomenal appetizer. Enough fat content to be decadent, wonderfully cooked, a flavorful tomato sauce and just a little too much cheese (no such thing really). It makes me wonder how that spaghetti and meatball entree would be!
I went with the Chilean sea bass as my main course. It was seared beautifully. I soon realized that the knife was unnecessary. The crispy fried Portabella mushrooms were an interesting and unusual pairing in the plate as I expected a meaty fish and meaty mushroom to get in the way of each other. No worries though! The mushrooms were thinly sliced and crispy as advertised. I wouldn't have wanted a chunk. The tomatoes also provided a bit of lightness, freshness and acid to the dish. Spot on.
Value for money is reasonable considering the location. LAVO was worth a visit and likely worth another.
