We were in Scottsdale for a week in January and looked forward to The House on a Friday night. Enjoyed their sister restaurants so felt confident our meal would be fantastic and had so many great Yelp reviews.
So disappointed from start to finish! Either we ordered the wrong items or the regular chef was on vacation.
Appetizers:
Warm Shrimp Salad: corn was great but the shrimp had a gummy texture and inedible.
Steak Tartar: taste was fine but did not pair well with chunky French Fries. Waiter said it was American style and only French serve it with bread.
Duck Confit Meatballs: dry crumbly texture and seasoning was way off! Waiter said they were taking this off the menu.
Arugula Salad was fine
Roasted Jidori Chicken: dry and the risotto was so heavy, could not eat.
Pork Country Ribs: huge serving but dry
Scallops were the best of the evening.
Waiter felt so bad, he gave us an order of broccoli. Ended up charging us, but took it off after we noted it.
Also had drinks but declined dessert after the worst meal ever! With so many restaurants in Scottsdale to choose, we just had a bad evening. Lots of diners eat outside in the front. We were seated inside and it was not designed with the feeling of an older House. It was like eating under a tent. I never complain, but this was a real expensive disappointment.
