  • I am rating my home warranty policy only. All of the customer service employees that I've spoken with have been very courteous and have done their best to explain processes to me (if I was rating just them my rating would be much higher). I HATE MY POLICY, and I doubt I will every try to use it again. If 0 was an option, then I would have chosen that. Unfortunately I am forced to give HSA 1 star that they most certainly do not deserve. I've attempted to make a claim three times, only actually started a claim process twice. Unfortunately my 1 year home warranty that was included in my closing package is virtually useless. I would have rather have been give the $645 in cash (it would have covered far more of my expenses). My first HSA experience was before I even moved into my home. We had a water heater in desperate need of replacement due to rust, but when I called HSA they said it's not broken so they won't cover any of the cost. Oh great. So you would rather I waste hundreds of dollars to "repair" a dangerously corroded water heater that will need to be replaced within the year anyway? No thank you. I just sucked it up and ate the cost of a new water heater. Then within the first week or so of being in our home our pool pump went out. I called HSA, they sent over a pool service company who reported back that it appeared a wire had been cut. So HSA stamps a big fat NO on my claim since there is no way to prove I didn't do it myself (yeah, cause I have all these tools and wire cutters lying around and I just love having to deal with HSA). Oh, and when I stupidly made the mistake of using the same company they sent out to actually replace my pump it took 2 months to get a copy of my invoice - ridiculous! What a horrible company to recommend to a home owner. More recently we had a small gas leak, so I called HSA. They said that they would send over XYZ company to fix it, but as I was on the phone I looked up this company and they have a 1 star Yelp review... I don't want a 1 star service attempting to fix my gas leak!!! So I told them no thanks, I'll get quotes from other companies. HSA promptly told me that if I use another company they will only cover up to the amount that XYZ would have charged, max of $500. I said ok fine. Well I had it fixed by a reputable and competent company, and now HSA will only cover $215 - what? This isn't even 1/2 of what I paid (nor is it even 1/2 of what I was quoted by other companies). So to sum it up, HSA is a SCAM. Sure it seems like a reasonable home warranty price when you first purchase it, but they will run you in circles, recommend the absolute worst service companies and do their very best to not have to reimburse you. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
