  • You can get any fresher than Hiro's in Greater Phoenix! We experienced a treat on Tuesday night when our party dined at Hiro Sushi. Thanks to the tips and recommendations of my Yelp community, we enjoyed a meal that that was better than five stars. Tip: Make reservations, 5 pm if you can make it. There was a line forming even before the doors opened. Fortunately, we made reservations 3 weeks ago. Even though they were extremely busy, my guests and I never felt rushed. Now for the nosh: The hamachi or yellowtail and salmon grilled cheeks (kama) were fantastic. Flavorful and smoky from the habachi grill, the fish was tender and succulent. We enjoyed 2 orders of spider roll (softshell crab). We also had shrimp tempura roll and a Vegas Roll. One of the highlights of our meal was the beef teriyaki which was a steak seasoned and grilled to perfection. Everyone enjoyed a bite. It comes with rice, a cucumber salad and a delicious seaweed based salad. We also enjoyed fresh sashimi (raw sliced fish). We had otoro (tuna belly), salmon belly (not on the menu but served up when we asked for it), and surf clam. I thoroughly enjoyed the monkfish liver pate. It was creamy and tasty, rich with fish oils. We were way too full for dessert. It was a fabulous evening of feasting!
