| - Three things you need to know if you're considering seeing this show:
1. There is nothing Cirque Du Soleil about it.
2. Just because it's a magic show, that doesn't mean it's all age appropriate. Highly recommend leaving younger than teenagers at home and even those that are squeamish or easily offended.
3. If you seen David Copperfield or debating between the two, save your money and pick David.
SPOILER ALERT (please skip if you do not wish to read about some of the acts in the show):
Not sure why Cirque du Soleil put their name on this production. Only influence I've seen is a bit of the costume choices and artistic backdrop. Other than that there are no other Cirque influence to this show.
I've seen David Copperfield twice prior to seeing Criss earlier this week. Didn't read any of the Yelp reviews in fear of stumbling upon acts being spoiled but I was prepared for the possible dissapointing show considering the fact it received only 2-stars from over 200+ reviews. And now I understand why and I too have to give it a 2-star.
Two of his acts were exactly the same as David Copperfield's. Only difference between the two performances is Criss' failed execution and David's act required him to guess 6 things from 6 different people. Criss only guessed 2 out of 3 correctly and his response to the audience was "2 out of 3 ain't bad." I didn't come to see failed magic :(
I would be more forgiving but everything he did he hyped it up so much! Whenever he's about to start an act he screams "Are you ready?!" and it's just him making birds appear.... Or him appearing from one side of the stage to another... And you're left thinking to yourself, "That's it?..."
Aside from his cockiness/hype, his performance was very poor. He would make jokes on stage where he's the only one that is laughing while the rest of the audience sits awkwardly silent. Another bit was when Criss was suppose to be mad that one of the audience member dropped one of his valued collectable & you can tell by his acting he was not even piss...
Think the only two things I enjoyed about this show was Maestro and the act where he saw the woman in half. Maestro provided comic relief and I think I found him so hilarious because he was making fun of Criss and how hyped up he is. Out of all of his act, the only one that made me "Believe" was when he saw the woman in half without the use of a box. It was a bit scary to watch, with the blood running on the stage, but at the same time I have never seen anything like that.
Speaking of blood running all over the stage, this show is not kids appropriate. Magic does not equate bring the children, not this act at least. There are tons of profanity. Many sexual innuendos. At one point Maestro used an object to represent his penis. Funny for adults. Not funny for the parents sitting in front of me with the look of shock on their face while looking down at their young sons and daughters who were so short that they had to get seat cushions just to see the stage.
CONCLUSION:
If you have never seen a magic show before and you got free/extremely cheap tickets and are not easily offended, then why not? It's always fun to see a show while in Vegas. But if you're expecting to see a Cirque du Soleil performance or have seen real magic shows, then skip this.
There's a reason why you hear the phrase "That's some David Copperfield sh!t" xD
