| - 3 stars is an average score, and Rare Earth averages just that. They have a cool spot out past Pinnacle Peak with some nice vistas to be had in the daylight. It is out there on the fringe of things...
We went 7:30 on a Sat. night and the place should have been hopping, but wasn't. Bit of a red flag. Where were all the people? Hostess seated my wife and me at a small table, I protested a bit but opted to let it go. Our waitress came soon enough and got us going. We ordered a large Gaetano's salad, it was decent but lean on ingredients and quite salty. My wife got the Marguerite and I got the taste of Chicago. Salad came quickly, but the lag between the salad and the pizza was annoying and inexplicable. There weren't that many people, so either their oven is small or there's some other problem. Waitress stopped by once to let us know "they'd be coming soon", so they know there's an issue there. Eventually the pizzas came. Both were very good, paper thin like real pizza in Italy. As for value, not sure it's there. The pizzas aren't tiny, but they're kind of pricey for what you get. We didn't have any wine or alcohol, and the bill with tip was over $55 for 2 personal size pizzas (as the waitress called them), shared salad and 1 diet coke. Don't think we'll go back any time soon.
Service: pleasant, helpful, but a bit slow
Food: decent, but pricey for pizza and salad
Location: good - if you're NE already
