I was lucky enough to be one of the many thousands who scored a deal with Groupon.com and got a room for two nights, with breakfast, and $20 gaming credit for a really fantastic price.
Then true to the classic Vegas story, my luck ran out.
I don't how when it happened but I lost my Vegas mojo last year. (Actually I know exactly when it happened, but it's a Vegas story I'd rather not tell) I don't like to club anymore. I'm not 20. I enjoy a good drink, but not to a binging excess. If you can't remember the cab ride to your hotel, you had too much. I'm not a girl who dances on a table and says "woo!"
So perhaps I am not the demographic that the Palms caters to. On Friday I wanted to sit by the pool and enjoy a drinky while my guy played poker in the casino. Imagine my surprise when I arrived and found dj with a few hundred partying people. There was not enough chlorine in the pool that would have made me feel safe in the water with some of those skanky girls.
There's a quiet small pool over at the Palms Tower, you have to walk through the length of the casino and take the Sky Tube (a lengthy hall with a people mover) there's a nice restaurant, a pool and a bar where you can enjoy a light beer in peace.
The Groupon deal was great, but there were so many rules and fine-print details that made cashing in some of the benefits a lot of work. You shouldn't have to work in Vegas. But if I get another room at half price...I'll be back.
