I might as well start with the one thing that the restaurant got right: service. Everything else was a disaster.
Let's start with the menu. I am still trying to figure out how they came up with this menu. Did they Google "fancy Italian menu"? Did they copy Olive Garden's and just add in some more fancy ingredients? One will never know. What I do know, however, is that a 44 ounce steak is probably not something one eats in Italy. I'm also pretty sure vegetable medley and dishes served with only a starch are not something I've ever seen in a fine dining establishment.
Now, let's move on to the food: the absolute worst part of the evening. I ordered the osso buco, which I'll understate as absolutely disgusting. The tomato sauce was sour, watery, and lacked any flavor or complexity whatsoever. The veal shank was dry and not seasoned at all. The polenta had no flavor and was covered in bland cheese. Had my server brought me Pizza Hut instead, it would have been an upgrade.
If somehow Cosmo could move the excellent servers to another one of their restaurants and then bulldoze the daylights out of the disaster that is Scarpetta, the world would be a better place. Save yourself the money and eat at the many restaurants in Las Vegas that are actually good.
