  • On November 8, 2014 my husband and I went to Honda at Superstiton Springs to have our 2007 Ridgeline worked on. In the end the estimated truck repairs seemed to outweight the worth of the truck so we decided to look at a more economically efficient car for his work driving up to 500 miles a day in the city. Salesman was Mark and he had only been there 2 months but was intelligent, did his job well and worked to solve our needs in a car. We were not easy customers wanting different options after he showed us what we thought we wanted but didn't want after more considerations. We eventually honed in on 2015 Civics but were shown a 2014 white Honda Civic which met our needs the best. When it came to the financial aspect, things broke down a bit. I expected more perks and deals since I consider our family a Honda family, done most or our car and truck repairs with Superstition Springs Honda over the last 7 years and bought two Hondas in that time. There was very little price difference from a 2014 to a 2015. I would not have purchased a car from them after the negotiations since there did NOT seem to be much of a "deal". My husband doesn't like to negotiate and he had already been there 4 hours but I agreed if he wanted the car, I would co-sign. Here's what we got: some discounted price and a decent trade in price for the truck. They paid our bill for the truck repairs which came to about $500. We got 1.9% financing. Overall it seemed reasonable! The Internet Sales Manager, Rob was very kind and friendly, accomodating and tried to help me feel better about the slim amount of discount. When I said I would sign the papers, but personally would not have purchased the car because it was too lean of a discount, the manager of the dealership came over. Mr. Zamora took us into his office and worked on public relations to calm my dissatisfaction showing me that while I "thought" I got a huge deal when I bought my CRV last year, it came out about the same "loss" for them in both cars because the Civic didn't have much fat to negotiate with while the CRV did last year. I am not sure if we were really comparing apples to apples, but Mr. Zamora (who seemed very sincere and honest) did everything possible to show me that the dealership made about the same amount on the two cars even though I believed I got a huge discount on the CRV and very little discount on the CIVIC. He said they make their money on the service, not the car purchase because there is not a huge mark up in the lower end cars like the CIVIC. I'm not knowledged enough in economics to know if this was the truth or not. However, I know one thing....the salesman, the Internet Sales Manager and Mr. Zamora seemed to want to please me more with kindness, explanations and sharing of facts rather that "buying" my business with discounts, perks and options. I did feel we received some perks in finance because he helped us a lot. Mr. Zamora told him to make our experience exceptional. It was exceptional. It took less time than we ever had in finance in 30 years, we discontinued "GAP" insurance on the CRV because we didn't need it which he applied to the Civic price as a downpayment and he treated us with respect instead of trying to get us to buy more options in finance. In the end I could say I "liked" how the personnel treated me but if I wanted a GREAT deal I might shop around more before I stopped here next time especially if I was buying a lower end economic car even in the winter when sales are suppose to be better. It seems they are trying to improve their customer relations with serious factual conversations, some discounts and customer satisfaction, but because of my lack of real economic knowledge, I have no idea whether it was an average deal, a good deal or not a good deal at all. My final comment is I would have given them 3 1/2 stars if I could because it was what my husband wanted and it fit his needs for work and in the end it was a good enough price and discounts to actually purchase it.
