  • The Human Bean is not close to me, but I decided to drive on over because I get sick of my Starbucks obsession sometimes and want to see what else is out there in the world. I also like to support smaller operations if I can. I wish they had more locations around town, more specifically near my house. Make that happen, HB! I rolled up to this location last Saturday morning around 8:30 and there was only one car on the opposite side (they have a double drive thru. Holla!) I already knew I wanted to try an iced Mexi Mocha because I`m one of those weirdos that look at menus and reviews obsessively before I go somewhere so I have some idea of what is about to go down. So, that morning I knew I was going to get a Mexi Mocha, but I still looked at the menu like I was deciding because I like to give the illusion that I don`t already know what I want. How does this psychology work? No idea. It has worked thus far, so I roll with it. When I pulled up to the window, I was greeted by a friendly, laid back lady who took my order right away. She came back a few minutes later with a beautiful(yes, caffeine can be beautiful) iced Mexi mocha in a clear plastic cup with the HB logo on it. There was also the famous chocolate covered bean on the lid. I had only been to HB twice before, in Reno, so I was looking forward to seeing that little piece of magic on my lid again. I paid(prices on par with other coffee chops) and drove off. As soon as I was away from the window, you know I ate that chocolate covered bean like it was my medicine to live. So tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by my Mexi mocha because it was not as sweet as I thought it would be and I was really into it for that reason. You know how sometimes a drink is cloyingly sweet? Yeah, I usually have to let my ice melt a bit to get it to be an acceptable amount of sugar shakes. Not with this drink, though. It was subtly sweet and had a really nice cinnamon mocha flavor. It was easy to enjoy. I would definitely get that again, but I also want to explore their menu more. If you're nearby, or not nearby, this is a nice place to get your coffee and go. There is no seating or places to hang out and drink your caffeine crack of choice, so this is purely a grab and go situation. Head on over to see the nice folks who work here and get your drink on.
