| - Despite lots of misgivings about this place, the food was pretty solid. I liked my meal.
If I had eaten in, I don't know if I could have given this place more than 2 stars, and it could have been a single star. But taking it to go let me focus on just the food.
I read some reviews of this place before going to eat here, and there were plenty of good ones, interspersed with some bad ones. I decided to give the place the benefit of the doubt and try it. I ordered the spicy noodles to go. The woman on the phone was nice.
When I showed up, I was the only one, not just at the restaurant, but in the parking lot. No wonder this place doesn't get much business in the evenings--it's in an abandoned strip mall! So that wasn't a good start. When I walked in, the smell of the place was pretty nasty. It smelled of moth balls, to the point that my eyes were burning sitting in there for a few minutes. That's not good at a restaurant. As for the lay out and decorations, it seems like a decent place. But the smell! I figured I could just not eat my food if it turned out to be horrible. I paid and drove away.
When I did eat, I was pretty darn happy with the food. The food itself is more than 3 stars. I had asked for extra vegetables ($2 extra), and there were plenty in my dish. The spiciness (medium, to gauge how spicy they do things) was really nice. The flavor was excellent, and the noodles were delicious. I definitely enjoyed the dish.
I might come by here again for to go food, but I won't be staying in to eat unless there's some serious improvement inside this place.
