  • My worst experience wth a "hotel" in "Scottsdale". Now I use those two terms very loosely because this place is basically a run down motel; and not in any area that can be considered Scottsdale. I made a reservation based on the pictures on their website which make it look like an awesome hotel with a bath tub in the room and the pics make it look modern... My flight flew into Phoenix at 10:30pm and by the time I got my rental car I came to this hotel and started to check in. Right away I knew something was wrong because the front lobby didn't really look up to par with other "hotels" I have stayed in. In my opinion hotels have a lobby that leads to a room and a motel gives you a key where you go to pick up a key to your room then walk outside and around the building to your assigned room. Unfortunately this place falls into the latter category and is most definitely a motel. Anyways the front "lobby" made it seem like a motel but I was willing to give it a chance because the website had shown such gorgeous pictures and stated it was a boutique hotel; so I thought I would give the room a chance. I pulled up to the room and opened the door to what looked like a note that you would normally do illegal things in. The room was nothing like the pictures on their website and on hotels.com (I think that might be against heir terms of service and that's the next place I'll leave a review on). The room also smelled like toxic chemicals, like I have stayed in motel 8's before that were not only cleaner but didn't smell like a meth lab like 3 Palms did. I immediately went online and booked a room at another hire in Scottsdale for $199.00 a night last minute during spring training; and then proceeded to the front desk. I talked to the guy and told him the issues with my room and said I'd like a refund and that I would not be staying there. He tooo my key cards and said I would be charged for one nights charge and that he would send me a receipt the next day. Keep in mind I paid $150.00 a night for this place.. Fast forward 4 days later and I have someone call me from 3 palms and say that house keeping notice my room hasn't been used. I explained that I had not stayed in that room for even 3 minutes and asked immediately for my refund. Luckily the guy was nice and talked to a manager and they agreed to only charge me one nights rent which I thought was reasonable although kind of unfair since my room smelled like a meth lab and I feel I was misled. I asked them to waive this and the manager did not agree with me. Now I have a receipt for $255.00 plus taxes.. for a room I did not even stay one minute in.., I called and asked what the roughly $300 after taxes was for and they said that was the Friday night rate for the room, which I vehemently deny. I booked for $155.00 a night as my 10 night stay came to $1823.76 AFTER taxes soooo where does the $255.00 plus tax come from? Also I looked up other hotels when I was checking in and hotels.com showed $168.00 a night for the SAME night.. 3 palms is not a hotel but a motel and I would not go here for more than $100.00 a night and ONLY if it was my last resort. The staff might be friendly but then will bamboozle you with hidden charges and if you book a room make sure to save the cost per night; or better yet STAY AWAY FROM 3 PALMS HOTEL in Scottsdale; it's not in a good area and the hotel is a motel.
