Progressive Field has always had a special place in my heart. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been coming to Progressive Field - formerly Jacob's Field - to enjoy warm summer evenings watching the Tribe bring home a win. I'm obviously a little biased...but I think this baseball stadium is one of my favorites.
The renovations that have been completed in recent years have only added to my love of Progressive Field. First of all, the food choices are outstanding. Many of my favorite Cleveland establishments - MELT, Barrio, Great Lakes Brewing Company - have all made it into the stadium. If you've come from out of town for a game, you'll get to experience a true taste of the city with the food options in Progressive Field. There's also a large bar section that's super hip and trendy. It's technically enclosed under a roof, but it has tall glass accordion doors that are always open so that you can experience the outdoors while you're "indoors." Another cool addition is that they've been opening the park early (5 PM) for happy hour at the bars and restaurants before the game. It seems like they're doing a great job of getting people of all ages to want to come to the park!
Not only is the food great, but all of the technology in the field has been updated as well. The televisions are now high definition flat screens, and the scoreboard is one absolutely massive screen. I've never seen a scoreboard like this before at a baseball field! In the past couple of years they've knocked out a large section of seats in the outfield to open the park up to the city and provide a more open and airy feeling. I love the way that you feel so connected to the surrounding city while sitting in the stadium after this particular update.
Overall, Progressive Field is absolutely worth a visit if you've never been. Go Tribe!
