| - I scream for their ice cream!
Dalla Rose is the new up and coming Ice cream store situated in St. Henri. Conveniently located between Rustique Pies and Arthur's Nosh bar. Already they've earned a lot of points due to their location. It just so happens to be in the middle of two of my favorite places in Mtl.
Once you walked into Dalla Rose, you will be most likely charmed by two lovely gentleman who happen to be the owners and talented hands of their wonderful ice cream. Due try to keep your focus on their store and the many flavour choices you have to choose from. Yes, the owners are also delicious looking and funny as well.
What I truly appreciate about their store is their strong focus on quality ingredients, dedication and unique flavours. Mind you, they are not absurd flavors such as other low quality fluorescent, artificially flavored ice cream chains.
When I'm speaking about unique, I meant corn flavoured ice cream(Delicious!) Coco Matcha and Blueberry. Their flavours may change according to the season. They also focus in using seasonal ingredients. Which I love!
If you are vegan.. Continue reading my review! Dalla Rose has many wonderful and vegan friendly ice cream. Although I'm not vegan, I have tried a few of their flavours and I couldn't tell one bit of a difference whether they were vegan or not.
Now... Did I mention you can customize your own ice cream sandwich with a variety of their homemade cookies?! Oh, yes you can!
You select two cookies and a scoop of the flavor you desire and you have a melt in your mouth, buttery, ice cream sandwich.
However! This is where I will express one negative comment in regards their ice cream sandwiches. The last time I tasted them, I found their cookies to be a bit too crunchy. They lacked a great deal of chewiness. Which made it quite difficult to eat with my hands since the cookie kept breaking each time I took a little bite of it. Luckily I didn't mind having many cookie crumbs and drips of ice cream all over my hands and pants. However, at times it was a bit of a uncomfortable challenge taking a bite of it.
Will that overly crunchy and hard cookies stop me from going back again, and again? Absolutely NOT! I can assure you of that. Especially since their chocolate ice cream is amazing! Imagine a deep, intense, sweet chocolate mousse made into an ice cream. Yes, that is how good it taste. You can noticeably tell that they use a good quality European cocoa, which I'm a huge fan of! It certainly highlights the taste of chocolate.
Overall Dalla Rose is something I often look forward to during the Summer time. Sitting on their bench or nearby side walk, watching people walk by with their dogs and children. Dalla Rose adds a perfect and creamy touch to the St. Henri neighborhood.
