On October 4th I went to Modern for the first time to have my fully highlighted hair toned down with balayage. When complete with a full blowout it looked beautiful and they even took an after picture under their nice lights at the front of the salon. When I started fixing it myself I noticed that the color looked very patchy and uneven. I even noticed a straight line on either side of my part where the brown stopped and the blonde began. I went back to my regular stylist for a hair cut and she saw right away what a terrible job was done to my hair. See pictures. She fixed the top as best she could to make it blend, but the underneath layers of my hair still look like this. I called the salon and spoke first with the assistant manager who asked me to send the pictures. I only received a call back from the manager, Kelly, the next day after sending a second email threatening to call the BBB. She informed me that I COULD have had my hair fixed for free if 1) I didn't have the TOP fixed by someone else and 2) I had called with in their 2 week satisfaction window. I first called on day 14. I spoke with Kelly on day 15.
I told her I would like some or all of the 385.00 I spent on my hair that day and she, albeit politely, told me that was not an option. So for my 385.00 all I got was terribly messed up hair color and an I'm sorry. For a company who succeeds based on their reputation they have horrific customer service. Shame! Consumers beware.
