This Double Tree has a gorgeous lobby and a very nice pool/bar area to be sure! For the price, however, the rooms leave quite a bit to be desired.
The day we arrived, there was a conference in town, so despite my HHonors Gold status, they were unable to offer us a room upgrade. We were given our classic delicious DoubleTree cookies and sent to our room. Getting to the room was rather "motel-like" as we had to walk outside through a maze to get there. When we arrived, we were definitely disappointed. The decor was dated and the layout was odd (to say the least). There was a patio which was nice, but the patio areas of each room are not private and form almost something of a communal area.
Dissatisfied with the room for the price ($209 a night), we decided to stay at the Marriott Old Town up the road instead.
We did grab drinks and a cup of bison soup before leaving. The bartender was nice and the soup was good. I'll reiterate how nice the pool area is. The only flaw is it has no hot tub, which we found to be odd (there is a kiddie pool which can easily be mistaken for a hot tub at first glance).
Overall, honestly not worth it for the price. 2.5 stars.
