Not quite at a 3 star. Started out on the PCD program first then transitioned to hospice. My mother meets many, many of the "core indicator's" which is natural at age 90, has the highest level of dimentia/alzheimers and is barely able to walk or talk. So, why would she need a 30 day review and a decline in health to continue on with care. Feels rushed to get folks off. She has had chronic UTI for 2 years and no longer treating with antibiotics, so that add's to her health concerns and decline. I had also been told that there is the option for minimal respite care (out of the home) to allow caregiver to rest, only to be told about all kinds of changes. As soon as I mentioned I wanted to take advantage of this, it was like hitting a brick wall. So, they should clear that up as I guess things have changed. Basically, you get nurse visits once a week, supplies that medicare will provide and a cna for bathing if you want. Then you end up with too many people stopping in and can be overwhelming for caregiver. At the end of the day, you are still pretty much on your own. Better off placing loved one in a nursing home so you don't kill yourself by being so isolated.
