| - I am extremely happy with the service and staff at Shepherd Eye center, I had never been to them until I went for an eye exam and had cataract surgery on Aug 3rd and 17th. I had to have drops 4 times a day for two weeks and not rub my eyes. the surgery was successful and I only had to have a pill to relax me before the 10 minute surgery. There was an anesthesiologist who was available if I needed to be sedated if I wanted, but I chose to just take the relaxer. There were a number of drops before the surgery to numb the eye and I was asked to keep my eye closed so it would dilate, so I was in a recliner tipped back until the eye was ready. The whole surgery was in a recliner, a very comfortable recliner in the operating room. I was very comfortable and went to have lunch when we left the doctors office. The next day I went back to the doctor, where ever he was scheduled to work the next day, my appointment was at 7:45 AM. I got to see the doctor who performed my surgery and he checked my eye and asked if I had any questions. My final exam will be on October 2nd, and I can see fine. I will be taking cookies to the wonderful Doctor Alder and his staff, and I was also told I could change my appointments at any time, just call. I am a senior and have Humana HMO the charge for each eye was $50 and office calls are $10. Since my brother in law in VA. had to pay $500 for each eye, I think it was a bargain. the people who complain, probably complain about everything, it's a good thing it is a free country. One last thing, there are four offices around the city for convenience, one is the surgery center. I went to all four and was happy with all of them. They even give you a map, if you ask. Thank you Shepherd Eye Center.
