  • Finding this place has been a Godsend. I have suffered with pain in my lower back from Zumba, dirtbiking, hiking, and lots of other strenuous activities. I played sports for 8 years, including college, and I have been a bit rough on my body. Last year during this time of year, the back pain surfaced with a vengeance and I tried chiropractic care, physical therapy, acupuncture (at another facility), steroid injections, pain medicine, massage therapy, pain creams, heating pads, epsom soaks, yoga, stretching..... basically everything. Nothing helped for more than an hour. Then I was back in pain. I couldn't do any of the activities I am passionate about, and my quality of life suffered. Eventually, it went away after four long months. I gained weight due to my lack of being active, and that was a total bummer. I got back into my active lifestyle, and sure enough, a few months ago, during the same time of year, the pain resurfaced. I was extremely frustrated. I didn't want to spend another winter on my couch dreaming of dance, hiking, biking... all the things I love. I decided to post on Facebook asking if anyone else had an acupuncturist they could recommend. I moved to Arizona 4 years ago from Los Angeles, and I utilized Acupuncture there for pain relief, and it helped a lot. I probably went to 12 different acupuncturists in Cali before I found a woman who helped me a lot. So I knew it could work if I could find a great acupuncturist in AZ. One of my friends recommended Paul. She had seen him for pain related to her pregnancy. So I went online, and made an appointment through his web based appt system. The soonest was Saturday, and it was Thursday. I was bummed, but it was the only appt available. Within an hour, Paul texted me letting me know someone had cancelled for that late afternoon, and I could have that appt. Score! My first appt with him was different than most I had experienced. He sat down with me and we talked for like 20 minutes. He really cares, and wants to take the time to figure out your issues. He then proceeded to treat me, and then I tried cupping. Ouch. He didn't do the running cupping where he moves the cups around, they were just stuck in one place. It got blood flowing and brought fresh blood to the surface which he said would reduce inflammation. I left feeling hopeful, but I didn't set another appt. I wasn't sure honestly. He and I didn't hit it off right off the bat, and it's important for me to connect energetically with people. The next day I woke up and I was almost completely pain free. It was mind boggling. I texted him and asked him if I could come back the next day so I could continue my treatment and hopefully rid myself of the pain. He fit me in, and I went in on Saturday and did acupuncture and running cupping this time. Holy mother of God, that was painful! I am not going to lie, it hurts. But wow, does it work. The next day I was totally pain free. I was also in shock. How could this white guy from New York have such magical healing powers?!! I made another appt for Tuesday, and he did the treatment again, and I was golden the next day. I also made a connection with him on the 2nd visit and I think that helped with my healing process. I realized I wasn't being open and vulnerable with my pain, and once I communicated with him and opened up, he reciprocated. Part of healing is being open and aware of your needs, and letting those around you help you. I saw him once more for severe TMJ. It really helped tremendously. Visits with Paul were always joyful once I opened up, he is a very cool guy, and he cracks me up. I was so stoked to have found him. He truly is a healer. He opened up about his past and why he got into this. I appreciated his vulnerability and realness. He told me he specialized in treating people with anxiety and depression. I hadn't thought about how acupuncture could help with that, but it made sense. My mom has battled anxiety and depression since I was a child. I referred her to him, and she has seen him many times and he has helped her so much. He has challenged her to change her perspective on things, and to not give into unhealthy thought patterns. I also referred a coworker who struggles with stress and anxiety, and he says Paul has helped him a lot too. Long story short (albeit this was a long story...), go see Paul! He is an amazing acupuncturist and healer. When you find something or someone that not only helps, but alleviates the issue, you want to tell everyone about it, and I urge anyone who is suffering from pain, inflammation or mental health to go see him. I truly think that we as humans need to allow ourselves the opportunity to heal naturally. He is a great guide in the pursuit of that.
