We went on the CVSR morning ride last weekend. We opted for the "4 course breakfast" option. The ride was very nice- I was considering taking my grandma with us but I'm glad I didn't because the train is not very handicapped accessible (she uses a walker) and the steps to get into the train itself are quite steep. The dining cart was quieter than the rest of the train (not as many kids), but the breakfast was mediocre. The 4 courses consisted of mostly sweets (1: Danish, 2: blueberries with whipped cream and granola, 3: egg strata type thingy with potatoes and 4: pound cake with fruit compote on top)- I felt bad for the guy at the next table who was diabetic.
The ride itself was pleasant- about 1.25 hours each direction. The highlight was definitely seeing the eagle nest with a fledgling on the branches. Train goes a little too fast to see too much wildlife. I would for sure go back in the fall or try one of their bike ride deals- but I would skip the breakfast- not super worth the extra cost ($30 per ticket).
