  • And you thought you had to fork over your life savings for corrective skincare and laser procedures, ha! Not at IMAj Institute in Scottsdale. Okay, it's a school so there is some give and take on your part but you can get procedures like laser hair removal, microdermabrasion, skin tightening and peels at amazing prices. The "give" is that you have to put your fate and your face into the hands of students but all procedures are supervised by qualified aesthetics instructors. The "take" is that with a membership, you get a month's worth of treatments for the price of one treatment at some upscale med spas. The school is tucked in a strip mall just west of Scottsdale Road and is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. The reception area has a modern, minimalist vibe with comfy leather couches in the waiting area and a trickling water fountain. Clinical services are performed downstairs in spacious, private treatment rooms. And yes, you will have a small audience of students for most treatments. Upstairs are several classrooms where you can get facials and waxing if you don't mind that treatments are not done in a private environment. These are students after all, who have to get their hands wet before they're let loose on the world. Treatments upstairs are also supervised by an instructor. IMAj (pronounced "image") is a great place to go if you're on a budget but still want to keep up with the Scottsdale Joneses.
